1) Is the new building going to open for the 08/09 school year for certain? YES! We are on track to open for the 25th of August. We will have vacated our site at Cole Park on July 29th. There is nothing to go back to! We will be in our new school…all of us!

2) When can we expect a letter or email regarding class assignments? Or do we find out the first day of school?

Class assignments are posted at Orientation…August 20 - 22nd. See the website for details. We do not send out mail but rather rely on our web site to post information and to email newsletters.

3) I've read the importance of the first day of school for funding purposes. Is August 25th the first day of school for all Kindergarten Students as well.

August 25th is the first day for everyone. The first three days of school are ½ days for everyone with dismissal at 11:30. This is to help us all with the transition into the new building.

4) Have both of the new Kindergarten Teachers been hired? Yes, all hiring has been finalized for several weeks now!!!

5) Where can I find information regarding school policy? The new handbook is online. Everyone should review this to keep informed.

6) Where are the school supply lists?

You will find them on the web site according to grade. Remember August 1-3 is Tax Free Weekend in NC for school supplies!

7) I will be out of town for orientation. Is there any way that I can come by earlier to see the school and find out who my child's homeroom advisor is?

Unfortunately, it is still considered a construction site. Until we have our Certificate of Occupancy, no one is allowed into the building. Hopefully you will be able to help out with the move into the building. This will be a GREAT opportunity for you to tour the building.

8) Funding is dependant on attendance especially during the first 20 days of school. What happens if my child is sick or we are still on vacation when school starts?

We will have to give your spot to the next child on the waitlist! Just kidding...if you absolutely MUST be absent for an incredibly good reason, email hgallagher@woodscharter.org. This will hold your spot.
